The 2018 series (12 Feb - 2 March) kicked off with participation of 39 postgraduate students (28 Masters and 11 postgraduate diploma) from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Students were warmly received by and introduced to SOPH academic and admin staff. Prof Uta Lehmann, Director of the School, and Prof Brian van Wyk, Academic Co-ordinator, welcomed participants and discussed structure and orientation of SOPH's postgraduate programme, and distance/blended learning.
SOPH's Summer School Programmes are aimed at Postgraduate students only. The short courses provide introductory blocks for the core study modules in the postgraduate qualifications, as well as a general orientation to academic study, distance learning and information literacy. Students find demonstrable value in attending these teaching blocks, and many have noted that their attendance had a significant contribution to their success.Students are entitled to attend any number of short courses which relate to their studies, at no extra charge.
